Benedictine University and St. Procopius Abbey invite the public to attend "Lent at the Abbey" from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
Speakers will include Fr. Becket Franks, O.S.B., of St. Procopius Abbey and Christine M. Fletcher, Ph.D., assistant professor of Theology at Benedictine University. The theme of the event is "Walking Resolutely toward Christ."
"Pope Benedict XVI described Lent as a 'favorable time to recognize our weakness and to accept, through a sincere inventory of our life, the renewing Grace of the Sacrament of Penance and walk resolutely towards Christ,'" said Fr. Becket. "Prologue 49 of the Rules of St. Benedict states 'As we progress in this way of life and faith, we shall run on the path of God's commandments, our hearts overflowing with the inexpressible delight of love.'"
